VATICAN CITY: Pope John Paul II died of septic shock and irreversible heart failure, according to the official death certificate issued by the Vatican.
The certificate, signed by the pope’s personal doctor Renato Buzzonetti, said he died of “septic shock” and “irreversible cardiocirculatory collapse.”
Death was certified at 9:37 pm (1937 GMT) on Saturday, April 2, 2005, at the papal residence at the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace, the Vatican said in a statement.
The patient also suffered from Parkinson’s disease, episodes of acute respiratory insufficiency and tracheal constriction, benign prostate hypertrophy complicated by urosepsis, and hypertensive and ischemic cardiopathy, the certificate said.
John Paul II was declared dead after his electrocardiogram signal remained flat for more than 20 minutes, the statement said.

A note from me: A good and faithful servant of God has been called home. The world has lost a champion of peace and freedom. We have always seen the Pope, and will always see him, as a friend who was concerned for the poor, who fought neoliberalism and strove for peace.
Deep condolence…
